The greatest threat to heart health

Today, I want to discuss what could quite possibly be the greatest threat to heart health – inflammation. Now I’m not talking about painful inflammation, but rather a more difficult form that is silent, existing in the body but without any obvious symptoms. Researchers have confirmed a strong link between this type of inflammation and many diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, arthritis and even osteoporosis! It’s pretty simple—the more inflamed you are, the greater your risk of having a heart attack, stroke or developing one of many diseases.

Now, not all inflammation is bad. In fact, it’s part of our normal immune response. It’s like a campfire—helpful when under control, but very dangerous if it burns unchecked.

Where is all this inflammation coming from? It’s just about everywhere. Stress, environmental toxins and diet are all major sources of pro-inflammatory compounds. Diets high in meat, corn, peanuts, wheat, dairy and eggs have been shown to dramatically increase silent inflammation.

So what can we do? First, try to manage stress and reduce toxins. Second, and possibly most importantly, experts like Dr. Andrew Weil say we must begin to consume daily a greater amount of anti-inflammatory foods including omega-3 rich fish, and spices like ginger, turmeric and rosemary; all of which contain proven inflammatory modulating compounds.

For me, daily consumption of all of these is difficult, so I look to supplement. By far, my favorite is Zyflamend from New Chapter. Zyflamend combines powerful anti-inflammatory spices in a softgel. I consider it the most important supplement I take. One final note, while clinical studies show it’s great at controlling silent inflammation, I’ve had many customers tell me it’s really helped them as a natural pain reliever too.
