As you probably know, we’re in the early stages of an outbreak of swine influenza A (H1N1). According the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) an investigation and response effort surrounding the outbreak is ongoing.
While we have much to learn about this specific strain of flu, we can say with confidence that it is indeed flu. With this in mind, I wanted to post two articles I wrote a few months back about influenza and other enveloped viruses that may provide some helpful information. Natural Extract Fights Flu; Viruses
As you probably know, one reason viruses pose such a problem is commonly prescribed antibiotics have little-to-no effect on them. Well, here’s a bit of good news – new research by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has found a natural product that has significant antiviral effects.
The NIH as part of the U.S. BioShield BioDefense Program recently conducted research designed to discover new antiviral options for viruses such as Influenza, Small Pox, Yellow Fever, West Nile and even Anthrax – pretty serious stuff.
